Wellington, however, took a cross route to the meeting-house, and reached there soon after Bowman. There was no longer any doubt, that the regulars were coming. Capt. Parker ordered alarm guns to be fired, and the drum beat to arms. The orderly sergeant, William Munroe, was ordered to parade the men in two ranks a few rods north of the meeting-house. Sixty or seventy had joined the ranks. At a little before five o'clock in the morning, the enemy appeared, at the distance of eighty or a hundred ...rods from our line.
