Boynton, and Lyman Wight, who subsequently became members of the quorum of Twelve Apostles, and Edward Partridge who be- came the first presiding bishop of the Church. Bancroft f jhr- Joseph Smith and others soon followed these missionaries t Kirtland, Ohio, and it soon was recognized as the headquarters of the church.
