While he was thus talking with many such vauntings and boastings, the Simurgk arrived in haste, and hearing him, said harshly, *^ Up, up I Let us be off, for Saint Solomon is asking for thee." Then the Sparrow, being with his mate, plucked up courage and replied, ^ Off with thee, I will not go I '' Said the Sitmrgh, ""But I will indeed take thee with me." ''Off with thee I " cried again the Sparrow, ''or I will seize and rend thee in twun I " Quoth the Simurgk, " I will not go without thee." Yet the Sparrow heeded him not ; and the Simurgk waited awhile, but in vain.
