Employ a number of hands to stick stakes at each feather in the cross string ; and in this manner go over the field. Roots, or Sets. — Procure from an established plantation, five bushels for each acre to be planted, of what are termed "runners," or grow- ing shoots. Runners, before or after they are cut in pieces, may be trans- ported to any part of the country without in- jur}'.
