So Khuda saw his loneliness, and knew that he needed a companion to be with him in the garden. Therefore, Khuda cast Adam into a deep sleep, and, while he was yet sleep- SEB3F ing, took from his left side a rib, and considered how He should breathe life into it in order that He might give it a separate soul and a new form that should be the same and yet not the same. But when Khuda had looked again for the attributes which He had used in the creation of Adam, behold He found that they were well-nigh exhausted in giving life to the man whom He had said should be lord over all the earth.
