Badnor.— Principal town of an estate of the same name in the north of the State of Udaipur, Rajputana, situated in 25*^ 50' N.and 74** if E., close to the border of the British District of Merwara, about 96 miles north-east of Udaipur city. Population (1901), 2,056. The town con- tains a post office and a vernacular school, and to the north are the remains of an old fort called Bairatgarh. The income is about Rs. 72,000, and a tribute of about Rs. 3,300 is paid lo the Darbar. The first and most distinguished of the family was Jai Mai, who was killed at Chitor fighting against Akbar in 1567.
