What reading level is In the Eye of the Storm book?
To quickly assess the difficulty of the text, read a short excerpt:

she whispered.  “Are you awake?”“Yes,” he replied softly.  He kissed the top of her head.  “Can I ask you something?”Holly nodded, a lump forming in her throat because he sounded so serious.  The last time they had a discussion like this, they were similarly in bed and it was decided that something like this could not happen again.  She fervently hoped that Stephen was not going to suggest such a thing again.  “I know that we sort of made light of it all earlier,” he began, “about this being a d...ate and all but…I was sort of wondering if you…I mean, if we could maybe try…you know…” God he was making a mess of this!  He held business meetings with wealthy heads of major corporations and did it without once stuttering and now here he was talking to one woman and he couldn’t seem to form a complete sentence!  He cleared his throat and started again.  “I think that we sold ourselves short when we said that we would leave what we had at that weekend.  I think we’ve proven in the last two days that we have something here that deserves to be explored.  Would you consider…”“Are you asking me to be your girlfriend?”  Right after she said it, Holly wished that she could take it back because it sounded so…high school!  Stephen must have agreed because she felt and heard him chuckle before he turned her around to face him.  “Gee, Holly, do you want to wear my letterman’s jacket, too?”  He burst out laughing and Holly swatted him on the chest but couldn’t stop herself from laughing too.Though they never finished their verbal discussion, it seemed that they were both in agreement that this was something that they wanted to continue.  Stephen made love to Holly slowly after that, and later, much, much later, they finally slept.Things fell in to a comfortable pattern after that.  They maintained a very professional and yet distant relationship at the office, but the nights and weekends were passionately hot and wild.  They divided their time between their two residences, as Stephen had hoped, and as Thanksgiving week approached, there seemed an air of uncertainty as to what they should do.  Holly really wanted to spend that weekend with him; to bring him home with her to meet her family would have been her number one wish.  She knew that Stephen had plans with Will and Derek and although they hadn’t discussed it, Holly had a sneaky suspicion that he had not told his friends about their relationship.  She wanted to question Stephen about it, but there were still some hurt feelings about that long ago weekend and the fact that his two friends thought what they did about her.  Although now, truth be told, she was doing exactly what they had thought she was doing back then! That thought bothered her.  She readily agreed to get involved with Stephen and if she were brutally honest with herself, it was working wonderfully and she should have never thought otherwise.  Maybe it was time for them to stop hiding it; maybe it was time to come out of the proverbial closet and let the chips fall where they land.  What was the worst that could happen?  Stephen wasn’t really spending a lot of time with his friends and Holly had a feeling that if anything, the girls in the office would almost welcome the news.  Since that lunch that one day where they all questioned her relationship with Stephen and she said that he must not find her attractive, they had all – at different times – almost encouraged her to try and get his attention.  So really, how the office people viewed her was a non-issue, as well.  Sitting at her desk, Holly noticed that Stephen was off the phone and went in to go over his afternoon schedule with him.  She made a mental note to bring up the topic of Thanksgiving with him tonight over dinner and then, if that went well, talk about bringing their relationship out in to the open.  If that hadn’t been something that he had wanted to happen, Holly didn’t think that Stephen would have truly pursued her.  They went out a bit now – not just spending time at his house or hers – so it wasn’t as if her were truly trying to keep their relationship hidden.  True, Stephen always picked the places that they would go.  Maybe he was doing that to make sure that they wouldn’t run in to any common acquaintances.
