SIMPLE MACARONI Pour one quart of boiling water over half a poiind of macaroni; cover, and let it stand twenty minutes; drain, and pour cold water over it; in a few minutes drain again, and throw it in a kettle of boiling milk and water, when it will soon be tender; then drain it, season with butter, cream, salt, white pepper, and cheese if liked.
