Of 195205, obtained from a fraction of the Shincliiku oil No. 1, having failed to produce the colour reaction, it was repeatedly fractionated, which ultimately yielded the desired result. The proportion of linalool contained in the sample, however, appeared to be very small. Judging from the limits of the colour-reaction produced, the fractions with b. P. 195205, obtained from the Shinchiku oils Nos. 4, 6 and 10, were subjected to oxidation with Beckmann's chromic acid mixture, and the reaction-product was subsequently treated with sodium bisulphite.
