The fifth government loan, known as the "Victory Loan," the drive for which was pushed in April 1910, was made necessary by the aftermath of the war. Though the actual fighting was over the expenses were not, by any means, and large sums were still required. This time Jeffer- son Countv was called upon for S480,000. which amount was raised with little trouble through the various banks.

The Jefferson County quota was $409,660, equalling $20 for every man, woman and child in the county.
