He has left behind him a mass of accounts and correspondence which show, to some extent, the nature and constancy of his services.* The career of the youngest son, John, is described in full in his autobiography and in other publica- tions drawn from that work. It was a career more striking and perhaps more brilliant than that of any of his brothers, due to the spirited character of the man, and to his inborn taste for art.
