We found at the Englishman's a young man from Middelburgh,^ who had been sold as a servant, but had served out his time. He was in the last English war, had been taken by a privateer and carried to Virginia, and there sold for four years, which having expired, he thought of re- turning to Fatherland next year. We were unacquainted with each other, but he was glad to see one of his countrymen.
