The appropriation to the Art Jury was originally in the neighborhoiod of $6,500. This amount met Avith considerable opposition from the independent members, I being with the oppo- sition. The bill, however, in its present form was cut to $4,900, which undoubtedly met all of the demands made by the independents, although it should be rec...alled that his Honor, the Mayor, was in favor of the original appropriation of $0,500.
