Council met — having been specially called together for the purpose of adopting measures consequent upon the resignation of Samuel Rush, Esq., late Recorder of the City.
Present, Messrs. Bready, Penington, Breck, Smith, Cochran, Snowden, Fell, Thomason, Hagert, Weer, Hand, C. Winebrener.
Norris, The President — Submitted a Communication from the City Commis- sioners, relative to the state of Brannan's Alley
...and Pennsyl- vania Avenue.
Referred to the Committee on Public Highways.
Mr. Snowden — The Petition of Robert Miller, late one of the Captains of the City Watch, setting forth that he had been charged with retaining property belonging to the City, and praying an inves- tigation.
Referred to the Committee on Police.
Mr. Breck — In his place, on leave granted, introduced a Bill, (Ap- pendix, No. 45,) entitled "An Ordinance, repealing the Salary of the Recorder." Which was read.
