Whereas, At the close of this session, Mr. John Mc- Garrigle, a member of Common Council from the First 392 JOURNAL OF COMMON COUNCIL. [Mar. 31, Ward, terminates bis official duties, has faithfully repre- sented the people of said ward, and served with dii2;nity and al)ilit_v as a member of said body, and in the future legis- lation for the City his loss will be sadly felt; it is, there- fore, Picsolved, By the Common Council of the City of Phila- delphia, That the Chief Clerk of this body be, ...and is hereby instructed to have this Minute suitably enigrossed, framed and presented to Mr. McGarrigle. Common Council proceeded to second reading of the resolution. The resolution was twice read and agreed to. The title was agreed to. Mr. Ilardart offered the following, to wit : RESOLUTION Relative to the retirement of David R. Griffith, Jr., Esq., as a member of Common Council from the Twenty- ninth and Forty-seventh Wards. Whereas, David R. Griffith, Jr., Esq., who, for the past eight years has represented the Twenty-ninth and Forty- seventh Wards in Common Council, is about to retire, and during that period he has ably and earnestly given largely of his time and ability to the service of the City of Philadelphia, and has at all times- set an example of courteous and generous attitude in debate and also in his close attention to all matters of legislation coming before this body ; therefore.
