When he turned his head the other way, he saw Catherine standing by him. She held out her hand and he took it. He wasn’t sure why he found comfort in her small fingers entwined in his, but he did. When he looked back over to Kniam he was surprised to see the council members waiting to walk past them.

“Where are the babies?” Knaleg asked Kniam, his heart was squeezing painfully. He felt like he wanted to scream and cry with Kniam. This is what it felt like to lose someone you loved? He didn’t think he could bear the searing pain he felt. He wanted to run into the wilds of Terraneu and never stop.
