1907, 475, sec. 2. The forest warden shall 16 take precautions to prevent the spread of forest fires and the improper kindling thereof, and shall have sole charge of their extinguishment. He shall investigate the causes and extent of forest fires and the injury done thereby, the values of forest lands, the character and extent of wood- cutting operations, the prevalence of insect pests injurious to forest growth, and other matters affecting the extent and condition of woodlands in his city or t...own, and shall re- port thereon to the state forester at such times and in such form as the state forester may require. He shall also post in suitable places in the city or town such warnings against the setting of forest fires and state- ments of the law relating thereto as may be supplied to him by the state forester. The engineers of fire departments in cities and in towns in which a fire department exists and which have so voted shall perform the duties and exercise the powers of forest wardens with respect to forest fires.
