At présent, however, we hâve no other means of comparing thèse unlike orders of pleasure than by roughly measuring the intensity of single feeUngs, their susceptibility of protraction, and of fréquent renewal, together with their liability to partial frustration through the présence of painful concomitants, such as after-fatigue.
