The effect of this enactment was not only to sweep away all usages, customs, charters, grants, and local and other Acts of Parliament, which were contrary to, or even in- consistent with, the other provisions of the Act, but also to confirm them in all other respects {see Grant on Corporations, p. 342).
Section 6 provides that after the first election of councillors under the Act, the body corporate of each borough shall take and bear the name of the Mayor, Aldermen, and Burgesses of such borou...gh.
The effect of this section was to change the style of the corporation of the greater number of the boroughs and cities scheduled to the Act But notwithstanding this change of name, and notwithstand- S24 Class of Elector.
