Jed sat in a chair, a blanket draped over his legs despite the day's heat. His face still had that drawn look of pain, but much of his color had returned, just as his striker had predicted.

"Jed, no. Don't." Temple rushed forward, certain he would fall.
But he took the gloved hand she would have used to guide him back onto his chair and raised it to his lips.
