The Republicans of the United States, assembled by their representatives in National Convention, appeal- ing for the popular and historical justification of their claims to the bitter fruits of four years of Democratic control, as well as the matchless improvements of thirty years of Republican rule, earnestly and con- fidently address themselves to the awakened intelli- gence, experience, and conscience of their countrymen in tlie following declaration of facts and principles : For the first time since the Civil AVar the American people have now witnessed the calamitous conse- quences of full and unrestricted Democratic control of the government.
