July 20. — In Church from 5 to 6, asking for Light and Guidance. Ashwell came. I read over to him the last of the letters of the Bishop. He recommended me to publish it. Oh Lord, teach me whether it is for Thy Glory, and the good of Thy Church !
July 21. — Heard the sad news of the death of the Bishop of Winchester ! A mighty Prince has fallen. R. I. P.
Francis Grey came; he agrees the letter had better be published.
