The men who had before passed judgment upon him were unwilling to reverse their unjust verdict ; and al- though their predictions that he would leave the ministry had not been realized, yet the style of his clothes was " too fashionable for a preacher, " and they determined to subject his fealty to the Church to fur- ther tests, by withholding from him the orders to which he was entitled.
