They soon found to their cost that the aged Pontius had warned them truly, for the legions were once more upon the march against them, eager to wipe out the memory of their disgrace, and to prove in a fair field their ancient valour. Two consular armies moved towards the South, and the successes which they won balanced the memory of the great disaster. Livy's picturesque treatment....
