Ava was surprised she could keep track of the days. After the bustle of the party and Franco and Georgie’s visit, and the excitement around Queenie’s audition (he still hadn’t returned; Ava was dying to know how it went), the flat felt unnaturally still. Was it always so quiet? The place seemed more suited to laughter, and the clink of glasses, or even a gasp or two from Queenie.
