I’d suspected something had happened to force him to leave, but I didn’t realize it was this bad: Heartsease destroyed, Nevery’s manservant severely injured, the magisters in an uproar. Mother advises me that I shouldn’t have permitted Conn to join the envoyage, and that now that we have reached Desh, I should order him to leave.
