" Here are three instances recorded in the Bible, of per- sons who, having received the benefit of the atonement, but yet are supposed to have 116 EXTENT OF THE ATONEMENT. perished. A question arises, would the in- spired penmen speak of them in the manner they do, if the death of Christ had produced no effect upon their spiritual relation to him?
