July 10th Mon- day. Marched about 8. Eain again in the morning before we started. Came 8 miles S. W. And en- camped on a stream which is quite large and with a 16 226 MARCHES OF THE DRAGOONS sandy bed, but no running water. This may be the main Canadian but we think it is too nea...r. The Country begins to look gypseous again. On the ridge we passed a thicket of low blackjack. Buffalo roads very large, but saw only one Buffalo.
