The happy spirit far has fled To brighter realms of endless day!
Immortal hope dispels the gloom; Art angel sits beside the tomb.^"* The poem's last two lines also appeared as epitaphs.**' A striking pointing angel, arguably the most beautiful in this study, is sculptor Henry Kirke Brown's nearly life-size bronze in Allegheny Cemetery.
