How oft, when Summer's scented breath Scarce stirred the leaves in Tyrell's Heath, And softly through the sultry air The birds made mellow music there, When, 'midst the grass of richest green, Blue violets were scarcely seen, As sweet they hid their matchless eyes, Like bashful maidens, when the skies Hung cloudless, arched, and Nature smiled In sunbeams on her beauteous child How oft have we together strayed, And viewed th' enchanting scene displayed !
