This widespread species is very common in the Maryland Pleistocene.
It is found widely in the Miocene of the Atlantic Coast from Massa...chu- setts (Gay Head) to Florida, in the Pliocene of the Carolinas and Florida, and in the Pleistocene from Massachusetts to South Carolina. It ranges in the Recent from the Gulf of St. Lawrence to the Florida Keys and westward to Texas.
Width, 137 mm.; height, 117 mm.; thickness, 76 mm.
Occurrence. — ^Talbot Formation. Wailes Bluff near Cornfield Har- bor, St. Mary's County.
Collections. — ^Maryland Geological Survey, Johns Hopkins University, and TJ. S. National Museum.
