At a special meeting of the Faculty, held Saturday noon, November 17th, 1 894, President Patton appointed Professors Shields, Duffield, Ormond and West a committee to prepare a minute upon the death of Doctor McCosh. Accordingly the following minute was prepared and was subsequently adopted by the Faculty and ordered entered upon the record.

While presiding in the Faculty Dr. Mc- Cosh always commanded respect by his conscientious devotion to the interests of the College ; by his fidelity in the routine of official duty ; by his watchful supervis- ion of the details of the whole administra- tion ; by his kindly interest in the labors of his colleagues ; by his hospitable wel- come to every new study and new teacher ; by the wisdom and liberality of his plans for expanding the courses of instruction ; and the wonderful efficiency and success with which he carried these plans toward completion.
