By that time it had become customary to admit a larger number of general medical cases to this service than at first ; and in 1886 it was proposed to change the character of... the service altogether, making it simply a third medical service. This proposition was referred to a com- mittee of which Dr. Folsom was a member, and was adopted on December 22, 1886.
