He is indeed, like Thomas, on the recognition of the Saviour, ready to exclaim, " My Lord and my God ! " ' 'UP...ON EEGENERATION.

' It is not enough, Nicodemus, that you should visit me in the secrecy of the night to declare your belief in my REGENERATION. 343 Divine authority ; for except a man be born again, of water and of the Holy Spirit, — except you openly profess my religion and your heart be transformed into the spirit of my Gospel, — you cannot be a subject of the kingdom I am about to establish ' Nicodemus, either intentionally or ignorantly misunder- standing our Saviour, supposes him to mean a repetition of man's natural birth.
