and again, "By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God, " and, breaking off abruptly, "when we love God, andkeep His commandments. " Certainly if love is universal and coincidentwith obedience, we shall scarcely be able to face this test.

He explains and characterises thespiritual birth by the words of the Apostle, "He that doethrighteousness is righteous even as Christ is righteous.
