The thanks her Ladyfhip received from the Seflions Court, were owing to its being generally fufpefted the Noble Lord had altered his political piinciples ; for which his Wife had chaflifed him.
It really feems that a kind of flagellating fsnaticifm had taken place, in thofe days, in this Countr}', fimilar in many refpefts to ihat which arofc in the times of Cardinal Damian and Dominic the CuiraJJ'ed : there was this difference however, that it had for its objeft to flagellate, not one's-felf, but others; which was the wifer folly of the two.
