In sub- stantiation of this statement the fact need only be cited that in 1892 Mr. Lennox acquired by purchase the prop- erty of the Gold King Mining company in Poverty Gulch, from which the first shipment of ore from the great camp was made the previous year by Bob Womack, "Father of the Cripple Creek district". Under the di- rection of Mr. Lennox this property became one of the best producers of the camp.
