I am sorry to inform you however that from the effects of a violent storm there is now no prospect of accom- plishing that desirable object the reduction of Michilli...mack- inac this season. It is with the greatest regret I inform you that it is almost reduced to a certainty that two of our schoon- ers have been lost on Lake Erie the "Chippewa" and "Ohio" the former loaded with the baggage of the Troops from Bass Island, the latter with flour and salt provisions from Cleve- land. Our whole stock of the latter on hand at this place is forty barrels nor is there a possibility of obtaining a supply for a considerable time as the "Ohio" contained nearly the whole of the contractors stock of that article.
