What reading level is Messenger book?
To quickly assess the difficulty of the text, read a short excerpt:

Tonight it was simply a low hum, a nervous whisper through the crowd.
Matty slipped into a group that had gathered and was standing nearest to the platform, a simple wooden structure like a stage that was used for many occasions when the people came together. The coming meeting to discuss the proposal to close Village would be held here, too, and Leader would stand on the stage to direct things and keep them orderly.
A large wooden roof covered the area so that rain would not prevent a gatherin
...g, and in the cold months the enclosing sides would be slid into place. Tonight, though, with the weather still warm, it was open to the evening. A breeze ruffled Matty's hair. He could smell the scent of the pine grove that bordered the area.
He found a place to stand next to Mentor, hoping that perhaps Jean would join her father, though she was nowhere to be seen. Mentor glanced down and smiled at him. "Matty!" he said. "It's a surprise to see you here. You've never been before." "No," Matty said.

Beautiful book, well written, Lowry is an absolute wordsmith. Thank you!
If you haven't done so, I suggest reading The Giver, Gathering Blue, then this one and after this read Son. I personally loved the story of Kira in Gathering Blue, though this book will always be my favourite of the quartet.

This book leaves so much question, but good ones. Just like the giver, Luis Lowry puts meaning full symbols in this book. For example, the forest. I really enjoyed this book and the series. Respect Luis Lowry, This the first series i read that made me remember the author. You are a great author.

The book was too quick, and ended with too many questions, like the Giver. Yes, it is sometimes good to leave questions, but this book left one too many. An example: what happened to the trader? Also, I believe that Matty/Healer was very Gary-Stu-ish. Noble-death-to-save-everyone Gary-Stu. I would rate this about a three. The book was less than okay, but I guess it was at least entertaining.

I don't know what questions you are talking about. Unless you are retarded it is very clear what happens. If you can't see that you shouldn't shit talk the book.
