When the judgment... is not ex- plicative, it is clearly an interpretation of that which is presented in the subject; that is, the concept given in the predicate interprets the sub- ject by representing its true essential being. Now, the concept, like the sensation, has in primi- tive thinking an objective character. It is a real thing. This is the stage at which are to be found Plato and Aristotle, and their ancient and modern followers. The concept gotten from particulars is treated as an objective reality. But a peculiar problem is herein involved.
