Lieutenant Miles Me...rwin died December 12, 1786, sixty-seven years old. His wife, Mary Talcott, died January 18, 1793. Their graves are close by those of his father and mother, in the old cemetery in Durham.
The inscription on his grave-stone is : "In memory of Lieut. Miles Merwin, who having served his generation ac- cording to the will of God through a 6i useful life, finished his course on earth Dec. 12, 1786, in the 66th year of his age/' "The sweet remembrance of the just, Like a green root, revives and bears.
