Orders were ifTued to feize the perfons of John Wiley, Norman Ptolomy, Totten and Crofsfield ; and information being given that a number of the confpirators were concealed at and near Jamaica, Jamaica, Long Ifland, a party of horfe were ordered to take them, under the command of Capt. Willett.
When they reached Jamaica, they found the confpira- tors, to the number of eighteen, had retired to a wood on the top of a hill, determined to defend themfelves.
