With a smaller membership there would be less obligations. In many in- stances, the complaint is plausible and worthy of consideration. In such cases they were shown that the pruning-hook was in their own hands and could begin to remedy their case as soon as they saw fit, by seeing to it that the committee on church records functions. Often there has been a disposition to do some pruning, but there is an out- cry from the pastor: "Don't do any pruning now but wait, father, for a later day; wait... until I am gone before you do any cutting." So it goes on indefinitely — each pastor willing, perfectly willing, for the pruning, "but let it come in the administration of my successor." EDUCATION We have not failed to foster every cause pertaining to the educa- tional interests — Allen Home and Bennett College for Women.
Through the efforts put forth at our District Conference, one-fourth of our allotment was paid. We are expecting every man to pay up his deficiency for Bennett College here at the seat of the Conference.
