Retrenchment after retrenchment has been made until we can no longer retreat. We must at least hold the possessed outposts, and speedily send forth reinforcements ...to the rescue. The reinforce- ments asked of the North Carolina Conference are not in terms of men, but in terms of food and clothing for those holding the frontier.
It is especially desired by the General Board of Missions that the North Carolina Conference finance for the coming year our mis- sionaries in Kobe District, Japan, and a group in the Western Mexican Mission. To this end we are asked to make a special offering of fifty thousand dollars, which has been allotted to the districts as follows: Durham, $6,400.00; Elizabeth City, $4,450.00; Fayetteville, $5,- 550.00; New Bern, $5,550.00; Raleigh, $5,900.00; Rockingham, $5,- 650.00; Washington, $6,450.00; Weldon, $5,300.00; Wilmington, $4,- 800.00.
