AN the banks of the Allen in sweet summer time, ^ When nature exults in her beautiful prime ; When the bees are abroad, and the birds are in tune, And the happy lark sings to the flower-deckt June ; When the gleam of the river doth gladden the eye, With the green of the earth and the glow of the sky ;— Then a rapture divine the poet doth feel, Surveying the beauties of Staward-le-PeeL Oh !
