This letter said that the Coulombs were plotting. Therefore, when they returned from Ootacamund, the Committee decided to expel them. On the 17th of May, M. Coulomb gave up the keys he held, and several of the shding doors and panels which Madame Coulomb had talked about were discovered.^ On the 23rd of May they were finally forced to leave headquarters.
