It matures one day later than Morex and two days earlier than Robust. A white pearl, long-haired rachilla, and a semi-smooth beard are identifiers for this variety. FORAGE VARIETIES Haybet remains t...he most popular forage barley for the seventh year in a row, with 118,100 acres seeded, which accounts for 14.8 percent of the total barley acres seeded in Montana for 2006. Haybet, as the name implies, is used primarily for hay. It was developed cooperatively by the Agricultural Research Service, United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), and the Montana Agricultural Experiment Station in 1989.
