At the end of the summer in 1992 the Capitol Tour program was discontinued and the half-time assistant for the Education program was lost. During the 1993 Legislature, staff trained legislative spouses to give tours of the Capitol. In July of 1993, the Capitol Tour Program and the Education Assistant were restored. Despite the loss of these regular services for over eight months of the past two years, 17,611 people enjoyed guided tours of the Capitol.

A 1993 IMS General Operating Support grant of $47,676 was awarded to the Museum which allowed us to hire a part- time Museum Technician, provided a visitor study needs report and will provide us with a year-long museum visitor survey. A $25,000 Conservation Project grant to hire a Conservator to individually assess the condition of our 3,500-piece Native American collection and reorganize them in more appropriate storage units was received in 1992 and completed in 1994.
