What reading level is Montana Outdoors Vol 16 No 4 Jul/aug 1985 book?
To quickly assess the difficulty of the text, read a short excerpt:
The presence of these spawners points to the Kootenay Trout Hatchery as the pro- bable source of kokanee in Lake Koocanusa because salmonids (the family to which kokanee belong) return to their natal tributary (where they were born) to spawn. Canadian fishery workers admitted that a rear- ing pond containing approximately 30,000 kokanee fry may have ac- cidentally been released into Norbury Creek in 1977. Kokanee progeny from the spawn of 1979 would have emerged and entered the reservoir during... 1980. In February 1981, more than 100 5- to 6-inch juvenile kokanee were found stranded on the banks of the Kootenai River below Libby Dam after a rapidly reduced outflow from the dam. Anglers in Lake Koocanusa first began catching these kokanee in the summer of 1981. At that time, they averaged 1 1 inches. During 1982, anglers in the reservoir caught a significant number of kokanee from 1 1 to 20 inches long. Numerous mature kokanee (averaging 17 inches) were captured in netting conducted by the DFWP during fall 1982.
