What reading level is Montana Outdoors Vol 16 No 6 Nov/dec 1985 book?
To quickly assess the difficulty of the text, read a short excerpt:
He slowed and pricked his ears a little higher but still moved forward. I then howled like a coyote a few times (not trying to be funny, but seriously trying to find some noise that would spook him away as he was get- ting fairly close — 15 to 20 feet). With that latest noise, he circled off the trail but continued to approach. Up to this point, I had been basically unafraid and fascinated with this incredible animal. As he approached, I still wasn't really frightened because I was sure he was ...simply curious about me (especially after those strange noises he'd heard). He was obviously young. He did not appear gaunt or overly skinny (for a cat), and I couldn't see his ribs under his thickening coat. I had seen many signs of small game, par- ticularly rabbit tracks, so I was sure he was well fed. He never flattened his ears as he would if he were about to charge. His tail twitched a bit and he seemed to be in a "sneak" position most of the time. However, I've seen house cats in this low position while attempting to evade capture or avoid being seen.
